Muhammad
Ali
Muhammad Ali is a retired
former 3-time World Heavyweight Champion and winner of an Olympic light
heavy-weight medal. Ali was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He
was named after his father Cassius Clay Sr. who was named for the 19th
century politician Cassius. Ali changed his name after he joined the nation of
Islam in 1964. He converted to Islam in 1975. Muhammad Ali was crowned Sportsman
of the Century by sports
illustrated. His boxing record was
61 total fights with 56 wins, 5 losses, and 0 draws. His nickname was ÒThe
greatest of all time!Ó

George Washington
Colonel Washington commanded
VirginiaÕs frontier troops. George
married Mrs. Martha Dandridge Custis. George was elected delegate to the first
Continental Congress. He was elected commander of the Continental Army. On July
4th the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence.
On May 25th he was elected President of the Constitutional Convention. In 1789
he elected first president of the United States the United States flag had 13
stars. He was re-elected President of the United States for a second term. In
1793 Washington issued the Neutrality Proclamation to keep the United States
out of the war. In 1796 Washington published his farewell address, and three
years later he died at the age of 67 at Mount Vernon.

Lou Gehrig
On 1903 June 19th Lou Gehrig was
born. On 1923 he got a contract on the Yankees. In 1939 he stopped playing baseball
because he got ALS. On June 2, 1941 he died. Lou Gehrig is famous for being a
great baseball player.

Betsy Ross
Betsy Ross was born Elizabeth Grison on
January 1, 1752 in Philadelphia. She was raised in the Quaker faith. She was married 3 times. She married
John Ross who was not a Quaker. Betsy opened an upholstery
shop. In 1776 BetsyÕs husband died in the Revolutionary war. General George
Washington came to BetsyÕs shop and asked her to make the American flag. She
suggested a 5-point star instead of 6-point stars because they were easier to make. BetsyÕs flag became the
official United StateÕs flag. BetsyÕs second husband Joseph was often away from home so
soldiers came to live at her house and called her little rebel. Joseph died in 1782 and she marred
JosephÕs friend John Claypool. They had five children together. Unfortunately,
Joseph died in 1817. Betsy continued to run her upholstery shop until she
retired at the age of 75. Betsy
Ross died in 1836.

Judy
Blume
Judy Blume was born on February 12 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She
graduated from New York University with a degree in Elementry Education. She
took a course on writing for children and teenagers at New York University. In
1970, she wrote, ÒAre you There
G-d, ItÕs Me, Margaret.Ó Her momÕs name is Ester and her dadÕs name
Rudolf. She has a brother named
David.

Helen
Keller
Helen Keller was born in
Tuscumbia, Alabama on June 27, 1880. At the age of 19
months, she lost her sight and hearing as a result of meningitis. With the help of her teacher, Anne
Sullivan, she became the first blind and deaf person to be able to share her ideas and thoughts with other
people. She even learned how to talk.

Martin
Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929. Then in 1944
Martin Luther King JR. graduated from Booker. In 1948 Martin Luther King Jr graduated from Moorehouse
College. In 1951 he Eentersed Boston College. In 1953 Martin
Luther King Jr. was the most important voice of the American Civil
Rights Movement working for equal rights for all. He was famous for using
nonviolent resistance to get justice. He died on April 4th.

Jesse Owens
Jesse Owens was born on Septembe12, 1913 in Oakville, Alabama. He
moved to Cleveland Ohio. Jessie Owens joined the track team at Fairmount Junior
High School. Jessie Owens set three world records and tied a fourth at the big
championship. In 1936, Jessie Owens won four gold medals.

Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson was
born on January 31 near Cairo,
Georgia. He moved to Pasadena, California. Jackie starred on football, baseball, basketball, and track
teams at UCLA. He served in the U.S. army. He played professional baseball for
the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron was
born on February 5, 1934. Hank loved his country. Hank loved baseball. HankÕs
goal was to be a major league ball player. Soon Hank was playing for the Black
Bears. Then Hank was playing for the Indianapolis Clowns. In 1954 Hank joined
the Milwaukee Braves. He became the second youngest player to win a national
league batting title. In 1958 Hank led his team to a championship. The Braves
moved their team to Atlanta. Hank Aaron beat Babe RuthÕs home-run record off
the pitcher Jack Billingham,

Mia Hamm
Mariel Margret
Hamm was born on March 17, 1972. She started playing soccer when she was seven.
She began playing for the U.S. team at age 15. She went on to play soccer for
University of North Carolina. They retired her college jersey when she
graduated. In 1991 she was on the world cup team. Mia played on several Olympic
teams for the U.S. Mia played for the womanÕs professional soccer team called
the Freedom. Mia is a good soccer player.

Betsy Ross
Betsy RossÕs real name was
not Betsy it was Elizabeth. When she was born she was Elizabeth Griscom. She
was born into a family that wanted to have a couple of children. After school
Betsy worked at an upholstererÕs workshop. Her job there was something that had to do with sewing. In November 1773, twenty-one year old
Elizabeth eloped with John Ross. They got married in New Jersey. John Ross was wounded in an
explosion. Even through his wife
tried to heal him back to normal, he died on January 21, 1776. Betsy married her next husband in June
1777. Her next husband was Joseph
Ashburn who was a sea captain.
They had two daughters, Zillah, who died in her youth, and
Elizabeth. Joseph was captured by
the British and sent to a prison and died in March of 1782. Once again Betsy
married, to a man named John Claypoole.
They had five children together. Betsy ran an upholstery shop and may
have made shirts for George Washington.
Washington asked her to make the flag for the United States and she said
yes!

Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany He went to
the Luitpold Gymnasium Secondary School. Einstein became a part-time teacher at
Bern University. Einsteins moved to Berlin.
Albert discovered E=mc2. E=mc2 means, mass will convert to energy at extremely high
speeds or at extremely high tempatures.
Albert Einstein left Europe because of Hitler. After suffering major stomach pains
Albert died shortly after midnight.

Hamm was born on March 17 1972. She discovered soccer at 7. She began soccer at the age of fifteen.
She played soccer for North Carolina.
The team captured four NCAA championships. North Carolina retired her college
jersey. In 1991. She was on
he World Cup team. Mia played on
many Olympic teams
for the U.S. Mia joined the USA woman's soccer team called The Freedom. Mia is
a good soccer player.

Milton Hershey
My famous
person is Milton S. Hershey. He was born on September 13, 1857 in Derry,
Pennsylvania. In 1872 Milton was apprenticed to Joe Royer, a CANDY MAKER! In 1876, Milton moved to Philadelphia to
start his own candy business. In1894 Milton began making chocolates as well as
caramels. In 1898 Milton married Catherine Kitty Sweeney. Finally in 1905, the
Hershey Chocolate Company is completed. In 1906, MiltonÕs new town is
officially named Hershey, Pennsylvania. In 1907 HersheyÕs kisses are introduced. In 1945
Milton Hershey dies on October 13 at the age of eighty-eight.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy
In 1801 president McKinley was assinated in office. JFK
was the first president since McKinley to be shot in office. He was in a
motorcade driving through Downtown Dallas. Three bullets shot President
Kennedy. People all around were upset. Thirty-two minutes after the attack, he
died in the emergency room. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the
thirty-fifth president of the United States of America. He belonged to the
Democratic Party. President John F. Kennedy was born on May 29th,
1917. He attended Harvard University. He was married to Jacqueline Bouvier.
They had two children. JFK was known for being a good president. Members of
both parties liked him. JFK was known as the peopleÕs president.
