About Our School
The School System
The Solomon Schechter Day Schools is a school system which consists of
three distinct schools that are governed by a shared Head of Schools and
a Board of Directors. The Sager Solomon Schechter Day School and the Skokie
Solomon Schechter Day School serve children in kindergarten through grade
five. The Sager Solomon Schechter Middle School serves children in grades
six, seven and eight. Each school has its own principal and is supported
by its own faculty, student services, personnel and office. There is also
a separate Parent Organization for each school.
Sponsorship and Affiliations
The Solomon Schechter Day Schools is recognized by the State of Illinois.
Schechter is sponsored by the Midwest Region of the United Synagogue of
Conservative Judaism and is chartered by the Solomon Schechter Day Schools
Association. Schechter is affiliated with the Community Foundation for
Jewish Education which provides consulting services and opportunities for

is supported by Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation.
Religious Philosophy
Schechter is committed to the philosophy and practices espoused by Conservative
Judaism and strives to maintain a close relationship with the rabbis,
synagogues, youth organizations, schools, camps and other agencies of
the Conservative Movement. In addition to families who are members of
Conservative congregations, Schechter welcomes families who are affiliated
with other branches of Judaism. |
