Requirements and procedure for entry into kindergarten:

•    Prospective applicants  must be Jewish by the standards of the Conservative Movement and must be five years old by September 1st.
•    The application must be completed and returned with a $150.00 non-refundable application fee and a copy of the child's birth certificate.
•    Families that wish to apply for tuition assistance can request a Tuition Assitance application by sending an email to registrar@schechter.org by February 15th.
•    Prospective students are scheduled for a kindergarten screening in February.
•    Each prospective kindergartner's nursery school is contacted; the applicant may be observed, a written form may be submitted or a telephone conference may occur.
•    After all steps in the process have been completed, the school evaluates the information to determine if Schechter is the appropriate educational placement for the prospective student.
•    If more information is needed at any stage of the application process, we will contact the applicant’s family.
•    Kindergarten acceptances are mailed in April.


Requirements and procedures for entry into grades one through eight:

•    The child must be Jewish by Conservative standards.
•    The application must be completed and returned with a $150.00 non-refundable application fee and a copy of the child's birth certificate.
•    A copy of academic transcripts from previously attended school(s) must be sent and each applicant will visit Schechter during school hours.  A personal interview is an integral part of the application process.
•    A telephone conference with current teacher(s) will also occur.
•    After all steps in the process have been completed, the school evaluates the information to determine if Schechter is the appropriate educational placement for the prospective student.
•    Grade-level acceptances are mailed as space becomes available in each grade.  Each principal determines the number of total students in each grade.

Note:    Hebrew fluency is recommended but not required of prospective students for entry into the later grades.  The school can, in some instances, accommodate limited proficiency of the Hebrew language.  Each child is evaluated individually.
