Field trips and other extra-curricular programs are integral to learning at Schechter. Many Schechter students participate in band, our newspaper and an annual theatrical production. Middle School students compete on Schechter’s basketball, volleyball and soccer teams. Classrooms and halls are covered with student-created art. Computer labs buzz with conversation and exploration. At Schechter there is truly something for everyone. Solomon Schechter Day School students enjoy an extraordinary relationship with the students of Keshet, a Jewish day school for children with special needs, that occupies part of the Northbrook building. Keshet students share lunch periods (including a kosher hot lunch program), prayer services, and other school activities with Schechter students throughout the day. Egalitarian morning services are conducted daily and Torah is read by the students on appropriate days. Holidays are studied and celebrated through exciting and innovative programming.
