Fall 2020 Back to School Plan

A message to Prospective Parents:

Throughout the COVID19 pandemic, our Schechter community has demonstrated tremendous strength, resilience, and support for one another. As we prepared for the 2020-2021 school year, we are grateful for the extensive research, time, and devotion of our educational and administrative leaders, as well as our Board and volunteers. We are proud to present our plan for a safe return to campus for all students, five days a week, beginning on August 19, 2020.

The overarching principles guiding our school's reopening include the physical health and safety of our community; the emotional well-being of students, faculty, and staff; and maintaining the exemplary educational experience that families have come to expect from Schechter. Our plan incorporates the latest science and data, guidelines, and best practices in education currently available, and has been unanimously approved by the SSDS Board of Directors. We are grateful for the trust Schechter parents place in our school as we continue to navigate this new reality together as partners to educate our students.

Navigating these unchartered waters together:
Throughout the COVID19 pandemic, we have been inspired by the many expressions of gratitude from Schechter parents. In the video below, watch and listen as Schechter parents describe how Schechter nurtures our students and cares for our families, especially during this time.

In three words, Schechter is a community, learning, and Judaism. Schechter is the type of community that promotes friendship, leadership, learning, fun, and most of all the love of being Jewish. Each day when I walk into school, I am greeted. Whether it's a security guard, a parent, a teacher, and sometimes even a student, I know that I'm starting my day in a community way.
